A bruising is just part of the process

A few weeks ago we were fortunate enough to be featured in the Courier Mail.  The interview by Debra Bela was light hearted and fun as we laughed and joked our way through the bruising lessons of doing renovation on our own home in Manly West as newly weds. It was always our intention to purchase a renovator to do over 12months after we got married in March 2019, however; its taken a bit longer than expected due to a long planning period and various issues this year that we are all having to deal with. There have been some twists and turns along the way and some amazing insight gained into the certification and approval process of non-legal height renovations and opportunities it could create.

We love the home we have created and now that the property is up for sale, we are both keen to do it all over again with a very similar property and pass our lovely home to a new owner. Finally we'd like to say a massive thanks to all the cooperative network of trades that have helped Sue and myself turn a very tired neglected 1970's property into a modern, light and very liveable home spread across two levels.

Things you should know

Its possible to turn unused storage space and rumpus rooms underneath 1970's/80's properties that is of a non-legal height into a habitable Class 1 dwelling as long as you understand the process and use the right expertise.

There are so many properties like this that if converted could increase a properties value significantly and offer more flexible living solutions for expanding families, grandparents reconnecting with their childrens families and dual occupancy.
