Story So Far:

Home Makeovers and Property Maintenance 

The owner and director of Ellis & Co is Simon Ellis, originally from the UK. Simon has over 30 years of Construction, Project Management and Property Renovation experience under his belt. His passion for property renovation and makeovers, coupled with work life experience led to him founding the company that is now Ellis & Co Property Services.

Arriving in Australia in 2010 as an Engineering Manager in design consulting, Simon chose to follow his passion with a career change in 2015 by becoming an entrepreneur in the residential property improvement sector. After a short spell understanding the Australia property market he started a company that now project manages inspections, makeover projects and solves home improvement problems supported by a cooperative network of like minded business owners.

Since 2015, he continued his education in business administration and project management, completing a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), becoming Certified as a Practicing Project Practitioner (CPPP), a QBCC licensed site supervisor, Work Health and Safety officer as well as completing full real estate agent training. This additional education assists Simon in the every day owner/director/project management duties of running a successful growing business with a network of over 40 cooperative tradies.

Mint Home Styling

The first time Simon met Tracey from Mint Home Styling was after Ellis & Co had completed a pre-sale makeover for one of our partner agents. During his final hand-over inspection Tracey and her team arrived and completely transformed the house into a home. Simon watched the magic happen. Tracey is the creative mind and business owner behind Mint Home Styling. Her years as a Stylist, Mother, Wife and lover of all things in Home Design have instilled her with the necessary skills to transform Ellis & Co’s property makeovers into liveable and loveable homes. With a background in Visual Arts, Photography and Graphic Design, Tracey has a well rounded knowledge of how to create interest and present a space in the most appealing and practical way possible.  Since that first meeting with Tracey, Simon (a previous non-believer of styling) has been a total advocate for complete makeovers that include styling. Through Tracey, he’s learnt that styling really does make a difference to the value of a property come sale time.

Harold Painting

We have been partnering with Harold Painting now for over 2 years. Simon met Harold through another painter, they immediately hit it off, both having had many years in management roles, Simon in construction and Harold in health Care (hospitals). Coincidently both decided to move back to where their passion lies in property and the maintenance thereof. Harold painting is a family run business with 30 years of painting experience which like Ellis & Co believes whole heartedly that your home is your most valuable asset and it should be looked after.  Choosing a quality painter isn’t easy and if not done well can cost you more than you think. We know Harold painting take great pride in every job they undertake, they offer a great service at a reasonable price, that is why we partner with them, their keen attention to detail can save you thousands of dollars in expensive repairs and repainting. Cheapest is not the best, Simon has learnt this lesson many times prior to meeting Harold.

Briswest Renovations

We have been working with Briswest for a while now. Simon was introduced to Peter by another of our partners at a Business Network International (BNI) event and they immediately realised they had a strong understanding of how to manage a project well through effective project management. Peter is also passionate about project management and believes excellent communication, planning and hands-on leadership are the keys to delivering renovations on-time and on budget. Simon believes this is partly why they get on so well. They spend hours chatting about projects to ensure the right solution(s) are put in place for their clients, which is so important in ensuring the right outcome. Peter holds qualifications in project management, is a qualified builder and carpenter who began his career in renovations over 13 years ago. He also holds qualifications in painting & decorating. Working together they deliver great results.

Dawson Electric

Simon met Kristine from Dawson Electric as a visitor to a Business Network International (BNI) meeting, realising the benefits Simon joined and remains a member and over the last couple of years built a great working relationship with  Kristine and Dylan, they have provided exceptional service to Simon and his network. As a previous electrical RPEQ Simon is able to work with Dawsons to define the scope of work clearly for the client,  helping to minimise clarification time on site and thus cost to the client. Dawson Electric have been operating in Brisbane since 2007. They have a team of experienced Brisbane electricians specialising in both Residential and Commercial Electrical work. Kristine is always super helpful whether it be a small household electrical job or a large re-wire. Dawson Electric have the capacity and experience to handle any electrical project and at the same time providing competitive and affordable rates.

Cammac Plumbing

Simon met Cameron at a Business Network International (BNI) visitor day in 2018, they chatted for ages about approaches to work and Simon immediately felt there was something different about Cameron. Having worked with many different plumbers with mixed results Simon somehow knew Cammac Plumbing was going to out-perform the others. He was not wrong. They have worked together ever since and both businesses have organically grown over the last two years through working with Ellis & Co partners and the network referrals. Cammac plumbing is a licenced QBCC Plumber, Drainer and Gasfitter specialising in maintenance, renovations and residential construction. Cameron has been running the business since 2014 and prides himself on great service and his attention to detail. Doing the right thing is what makes Cameron and Cammac Plumbing stand out from others, and this is why Ellis & Co value their partnership.

Men at Work

Simon met Mark from Men at Work Building and Maintenance through another network partner in 2020. There was an immediate mutual understanding of the industries issues with property maintenance compliance and doing the right thing. Mark began operations in July 2013 and has rapidly grown through diligence and expertise. Men at Work strive to bring integrity and professionalism into the industry as qualified builders they do Property Maintenance ‘right’ focusing on Homeowners, Landlords and Property Managers needs in all aspects of building and maintenance work. Having been a handyman since 2015 striving to do minor property maintenance work ‘right’ for property managers, Simon and Mark have since 2020 been collaboratively working together to ensure the property maintenance service they provide is second to none.

Boultbee Build

Simon met the Director Richard through Business Network International (BNI), Richard has established an excellent reputation with previous clients, so much so that most work comes from word of mouth referrals, much the same way that Simon and the Ellis & Co network operates, receiving the majority of their work through referrals. Richard and his wife Carol started Boultbee Build after relocating from Tasmania in 2005, where they also ran a successful building company. Boultbee Build is a family-owned business with over 25 years industry experience and expertise.  Since 2020 Simon and Richard have been helping clients in Greater Brisbane with their home renovation and extension queries and together as Ellis & Co and Boultbee Build they deliver well-managed building projects built on the values of trust, honesty and integrity in business.
